Set Up a Project Template

Start creating project templates for routine client work

Updated over 5 months ago

Goal: Create a reusable project template to streamline setup for routine client work and save time on repetitive project creation.

Project Templates allow you to predefine project settings and task structures for common engagements. This improves consistency, speeds up setup, and ensures your team never misses a step.

Steps to create a project template

1. Navigate to the Project Templates tab

  1. From the main navigation bar, click Projects.

  2. Inside the Projects page, click the Project Templates tab.

Tip: By default, you will see the My Projects tab for viewing active and completed client projects.

2. Start a new project template

  1. Click New Project.

  2. In the project template wizard, complete the following fields:

    • Template Name: Choose a name that clearly identifies the client workflow.

    • Billing Type: Select how the project will be billed (e.g., hourly, flat fee).

    • Description: Add a short summary to clarify when to use this template.

3. Add template tasks

  1. Click Add New Task.

  2. For each task, enter the following details:

    • Task Name: What the task is called.

    • Description: A short explanation or instruction.

    • Time Delay: Choose how many days after the project start date this task should be created.

    • Billing Status: Select Billable or Non-billable.

  3. Click Add Task to save it to the template.

  4. Repeat this process for all standard tasks you want in the template.

Tip: Use the drag-and-drop handles on the left side of the task list to rearrange tasks in the correct order.

4. Save your project template

  1. Once all tasks are added and ordered, click Save Template.

  2. Your template will now appear on the Project Templates page.

Note: You can modify a template at any time, but changes will not affect projects that have already been created from it.
